Patients ask me all the time, “What is the silver bullet for attaining health?”

Well, the answer to that million-dollar question is simple.

There is no silver bullet for attaining that lofty goal. Even though we live in a world of expected instant gratification, the human body does not abide by those rules. The body is arguably the most beautifully intricate and complex machine ever created. To say, “Do this one thing and you will be healthy” is as ignorant as thinking as long as you put gas in your car it will run perfectly. Yes, gas is essential but what about changing the oil? Tires? Coolant? Battery? These and a host of other things are required for your car to not only run but run efficiently.

The body needs more than “gas” as well. We are bombarded daily by advertisements claiming that this new and improved lotion, potion, or pill will give you health. Sadly, society buys into this false premise and does not want to put forth the real effort it takes to be healthy. There is a great saying, “If you don’t make time for your wellness, you will be forced to take time for your illness.”

Over the next few weeks, I will be discussing the different parts of health and how with some effort and discipline we can all attain a healthier body and lifestyle.

The first topic of discussion will be nutrition. Hope you will join in next week as we begin our journey into a new and healthier YOU!
